On Saturday 8 March 2008 the Civil War collecting & re-eacting communities lost one of its most cherished and vibrant members, John Henry Kurtz. His talent, knowledge, humor, kindness and zest for life touched all who met him. John Henry was both literally and figuratively larger than life. We will hold him always close in our hearts, long remembered, sorely missed. John Henry appears here on this website in an image from Spring Hill, Tennessee 1997. John Henry is the officer in the center.
